As Chairman of The Club Foundation and GM of Century Country Club, located in the eye of the COVID-19 storm here in New York, I wanted to personally reach out to you today and ask for your help. Our hospitals are in dire need of the following personal protective equipment:

  • N95 Respirators
These masks are critical in helping to protect healthcare workers from droplets and aerosols.
  • Surgical Masks
Although not as secure as N95 masks, surgical masks do offer a significant degree of protection against droplets with COVID.
  • Protective Goggles
Eyes/Eyelashes are a known source of transmission of COVID, especially in aerosolizing procedures.
  • Gloves (Nitrile, non-powdered)
Hospitals are running low on gloves, a critical item in patient care.
  • Face Shields
To assist in preventing droplets and airborne COVID from entering the eyes, a known source of transmission.
  • Wipes: Disinfectant
These wipes are critical to wiping down medical machinery, workspaces, computers, and rooms after patients have been in them.

I urge you to check your storage facilities, both at your clubs and homes, for these items and to please donate them to your local hospital. More information on the #GetUsPPE movement and a searchable list of where you can go to drop off your donations can be found here: http://getusppe.org/give/.

If your local medical facility isn’t listed, please contact them about where to drop off these much-needed and life-saving items – or, ask if you can drop your donations off with a healthcare worker you know personally. Here is an article from the Los Angeles Times confirming the need nation-wide. Please read to the end and you will see a fantastic FAQ section detailing the magnitude of this problem. If you don’t have any of the items needed, please donate to help fund the search for and manufacturing of these personal protective items so desperately needed by our healthcare workers on the front lines fighting this vicious disease.

The club industry has always banded together in times of crisis, and I know that today will not be any different. Won’t you please help me get these supplies to our health care workers so that they can do their jobs and save more lives. Let's stand #CMAAStrong to help those who are helping others.

Thank you and stay safe,

Burton Ward, CCM, CCE & Jeff Morgan, FASAE, CAE

P.S. Please share this ask with your members, employees, families, neighbors, etc. The more people who read this, the more lives that will be saved.
